Building a career is more than just landing on a great Job. It's a process that requires strategic goals, careful planning, hard work and developing professional expertise. At present, we must develop our career in global aspect, because either, we should be globally competent and or we should be salable in global market. People, cultures, languages, religions, arts, technologies, music and literature origination in many different parts of the world enhance society. This provides a tremendous range of positive opportunities to broaden ones' experience and knowledge.

Global issues are the part of young people's lives in a way that were never in previous generations. Television, internet, internationally roaming cellular phone and increased opportunity for travel all brings wider world into every one's daily life. Today millions of Nepalese people are on abroad either for the studies of for job as an international employee; unlike few years back who could hardly imagine for coming Kathmandu for work and job. Globalisation is the statement of value, aims and purpose, which reflects the growing need for young people to be educated and live in a world characterised by rapidly developing in all respects.  In this contest education must enable us to respond positively to the opportunities and challenges of the rapidly changing world where we live and work. We all have great aspirations for our careers. But, often we lack the expertise or strategy to make it happen.  Simply passing examination with high marks as results of hard effort does not mean much. Moreover, today global demand is to be a dynamic and skillful professional.

Professional skills and expertise are those factors which lie in core heart of every human being and differ from person to person. It must be recognised and nurture it from the very beginning of one's  life, if so, it leads to series of success as a skillful professional.

However, even if one goes in some profession does not end there; s/he must have enthusiasm to be a life long learner to keep you updated and competent with the fresh or new generation.    The universe is such large and diverse; moreover changing rapidly, one always finds a new challenge in any direction you look or go.  Therefore, you must choose your career yourself because you are the one who is going to face all  kinds of these lifelong learning phenomenon/ problems.

Researchers have also described the co-relationship between profession and financial incentives. Many people are motivated to go for certain professions to earn money; some may go for money to use as a toll for further developing their careers/skills. Some times your career can be a global interest, if it is welfare for all humanitarians or for national interest, such as a scientist or research works for global or national interest. In this case you can be financed by international organisation or by the government of your country.

Hardly there is no any knowledge, profession or career which has no demand or less opportunity, only the thing that matters is your keen interest on it.  If so, you can be at the pinnacle of success and pioneer on it.  Therefore; you must choose your subject or career yourself rather than the interest of your parents or guardians forcefully.  In this regard one must have opportunity to consult with an expert of career consultant to find out critical skills and strategy which you need to optimise your job and career in future in global peripheral.

Nagarjuna in 2070

Nagarjuna Academy

High School

(Linked to Cramlington Learning Village, UK; Wood Croft Primary School, UK; iEARN, USA; Global School Partnership and Connecting Classroom/British Council, UK. and many other organisations.  )

Nagarjuna Academy is embedding global dimension in its curriculum  full fledge from the academic year 2070 BS (2013/14). We are now enlightened to implement such international norms and  values in our teaching-learning process after the long deal of experiences that we gained through  workshops, training and visits with the schools/organization. Thus, we are in predetermined journey to make our children a global citizen as of  the need of the 21st century.

Mission:

Give us your beloved one and we will give you back a smart citizen

Vision:

Education in global dimension is the requirement for the 21st Century

AIM:

To make your child a Global Citizen

Global Citizens ???

A person who knows the diversity in culture, social justice and equity, respect all religious belief and sustainability of healthy environment with an excess use of ICT skills.

Nagarjuna’s strategies to meet its aspiration are as follows.

Progress in Infrastructure:

Actions:

1)       Build different departments for different subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English and Social studies.

2)       Establishment of a high band width internet in every corner of the school.

3)      A powerful back up inverter.

4)       Separate audio visual hall with stereo surround sound systems.

5)       An LCD monitor in about all the classrooms.

Develop the international links:

Actions:

Nagarjuna’s international link is not limited with few countries and organisations but has broadened the link with other schools of the world. It is going to be linked very soon with Mexico, USA, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Germany and so on to take an active participation with them

 Teachers Training:

1)       Professional development training to the teachers through the help of expert consultants, on line Skype, British Council, Canadian-Help/Australia and many more.

2)      Online courses for the teachers with an authentic certificate from “connecting classroom”.

3)      Orgsanising reciprocal visit / exchange programs as  more  than ten of our teachers and few students have visited the linked schools and organisation for workshop, training and to share educational activities.

Project Based Learning (PBL):

Nagarjuna is adopting the PBL method of teaching to support the learning of students in a creative way.

What is project based learning (PBL)?

Project Based Learning is an instructional approach built upon authentic learning activities that engage the students interest and motivation. These activities are designed to answer a question or solve a problem and generally reflect the types of learning and work people do in their everyday life outside the classroom.

Alternative Learning Center:

Nagarjuna alternative learning center is designed to develop and implement the curriculum that falls in the basic requirements of the common people. The classes we are going to conduct are:

1)      Entrepreneurship skill development.

2)      Training about sewing and stitching.

3)      Training about Electrician and Plumbing.

4)      Adult literacy campaigns.

5)      Social Awareness programs.

6)      Basic education for the parents/adults.

Moral Value Education Class:

Nagarjuna feels privileged to announce that we are going to conduct  moral value classes to the students linking it with the organizations, giving spiritual knowledge without being biased with any religion.

Community Engagement:

The teachers and students from Nagarjuna Academy have visited schools of various countries. It has helped us to understand the significance of family and community involvement in school activities.

1)      Involving parents to provide education to children.

2)      Collaboration with the local clubs doing social activities.

3)      Collaboration with international organizations.

ISA (International School Award)

ISA is an accreditation scheme for curriculum-based international works in schools. The scheme provides recognition for teachers and their schools working to instill a global dimension into the learning experience of all children and young people.

Nagarjuna Academy is nominated for “The International School Award”, which is a matter of proud in itself. This entire year we will be definitely working hard to receive this prestigious international award.

Touchable Earth (www.touchableearth.com)

Touchable earth is truly an innovative touch pad application that enables new avenues for intercultural dialogue. The students of Nagarjuna Academy have been chosen to take part in  it to represent Nepal. Recently UN Alliance of Civilizations has awarded this app by CREATE UNAOC 2012.

Curriculum Based Learning:

The radical transformation in the year 2070 BS is discouraging text books and teachings will be conducted on the basis of objectives and the values of curriculum.  Regarding this CBL, the students will really  gain  knowledge, rather than finishing the chapters.  Whereas teachers have to work very hard to prepare lessons unlike the previous system.
